At the end of the given period the students are expected to:
a. identify the points in every given equation;
b. plot the points in the Cartesian coordinate plain; and
c.apply the synthetic division in finding the ordered pairs with the given function.
II. Subject Matter
a. Topic : Graphing Polynomial Functions
b.References: Intermediate Algebra II
c. Materials: Graphing Calculator, Cartesian Plain, Over Head Projector, Laptop
d. Processes : Discussion, Group Activity
e. Value Focus: Precision and Accuracy
III. Strategies/ Procedures
A. Pre-activity
1. Drill : Find your Date!
The teacher will let the students to look for their classmate who have the same birth month with them with the use of animal sounds which will be given by the teacher.
2. Review: Bring me in!
Based from the activity, the teacher will ask the students what they have remembered based from it. The teacher would present in the screen with the use of OHP and laptop. Random names would be called to choose a letter and a face from the students would come out after the teacher would click the letter chosen by a student.
And the faces that would come out will be asked by the following questions:
a.What is a relation?
b. Based from what you did, what is the connection of the month to you and your classmates?
c. What is the difference between a function and a relation?
3. Motivation: Who am I?
The teacher will project images of the different graphs of a polynomial function, the class will be grouped into 3 and will ask the students for their right answers based from the graphs shown on the screen.
B.Presentation
1. Lesson Proper: Exploring the world of Polynomial Functions!
Graph of a function is the set of all points in the plane of the form (x, f(x))and the graph of the equation y = f(x).
Examples:
a.)Let f(x) = x2 - 3.

b.) f(x)= 3x^2 + x- 10
2.) Analysis: Check me out!
With the use of OHP and laptop, the teacher will post the instructions as follows:
(a) Plot the five points on the graph of f from the table above, and based on these points, sketch the graph of f.
(b) Verify that your sketch is correct by using the Graphing Calculator to graph f. Simply enter the formula x^2 - 3 in the f text box and click graph.
Questions:
a.)What happened to the graph?
b.) What happened to the graph when the y intercept is negative? Positive?
3. Abstraction: Graph me!
The students will be task to graph the points of the following function:
a. f(x)= x^2+3x+8
b.f(x)= 2x^2-4x-6
c.f(x)= 4x^2+2
4. Application: Boardwork!
The teacher will use the letters shown in the screen in calling the names of the students who will sketch the graph of the given function.
1. f(x)= 3x^2+ 4
2.f(x)=x^2-7
3.f(x)=4x^2
IV. Evaluation
The teacher will give quiz to the students by sketching the graph finding the first five points of the following functions as shown on the white screen.
1. f(x)=x^2+10
2.f(x)=5x^2-1
V. Assignment
The teacher will have an agreement with the students to study the next lesson and practice more on sketching and finding the points of the different functions.
